Meet J. Brandon Johnson

Attorney J. Brandon Johnson assists business owners and executives as general counsel, with all manner of business transactions, and as an integral piece of business succession plans. Brandon joined Illumine Legal LLC in 2020 after serving as general counsel to WeatherCheck, Inc., practicing in-house at Papa John’s, and serving hundreds of business clients in his own law firm. His robust corporate and business law experience includes all manner of commercial contracts, business formations, technology agreements, employee and independent contractor analysis, dispute resolution, and mergers and acquisitions.
Brandon primarily navigates small to medium sized businesses through complex situations. He is pleased to work with businesses and entrepreneurs that appreciate the complexities of the law – even if they do not want to know about all of the gritty details. Brandon enjoys helping his clients achieve their goals and dreams and deeply appreciates the hard work and dedication required to be a successful entrepreneur.
Brandon is a member of the Colorado, Denver, Kentucky, Indiana, and American Bar Associations. Brandon has spoken at Continuing Legal Education programs on ethical issues concerning joint representations in business transactions and presented to law school students about how to achieve their career goals and ambitions. Prior to law school, Brandon sold insurance, worked in bars and restaurants from Hilton Head, SC to Los Angeles, CA (and everywhere in between), and taught English in South Korea.
Brandon is originally from Fordsville, Kentucky, which is nestled in western Kentucky, 10 miles north of the home of Bill Monroe — the father of Bluegrass music. Brandon is married and has a daughter. He immensely enjoys his faith, his family, skiing, basketball, Bluegrass, and the occasional Kentucky bourbon. Being a cancer survivor, he lives each day as his last.
